Six MARA Entrepreneurs To Represent Malaysia At MIHAS@Shanghai In November

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 25 (Bernama) -- Six women entrepreneurs from 16 exhibiting companies under the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) Gate to Global programme will represent Malaysia at the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) in Shanghai, China from Nov 5 to 10.

MARA chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the entrepreneurs are ready to expand their wings internationally and meet the criteria set by MARA to become exporters.

"These entrepreneurs are capable women and I am confident that their products will be in demand in the global market.

"I am proud that (our) women entrepreneurs can compete at the international level with the advisory services and facilities provided by MARA. Congrats to the women entrepreneurs," he said.

He said this when speaking at the Selangor-level opening of the MARA Women's Empowerment Programme and the Malaysia MADANI National Seminar at the Nice Banquet Hall in Rawang.

Asyraf Wajdi said that to date, MARA has disbursed more than RM50.3 million in allocations to entrepreneurs in Selangor, with 164 of the recipients being women.

He welcomed the proposal to establish the ‘Persiaran Wanita Berdaya’ to showcase the products of Selangor women entrepreneurs aided by MARA as a pilot project before expanding it nationwide.

Meanwhile, Asyraf Wajdi said MARA's women's empowerment programme held nationwide to nurture and empower women entrepreneurs, is nearing completion.

"This programme is highly relevant because we not only want to produce successful women entrepreneurs, but also those with a spirit of struggle to uplift the economic status of our people," he said.

Meanwhile, Asyraf Wajdi said today, for the first time, MARA is providing aid to poor and orphaned students pursuing a university education through a benevolence fund called ‘Program Dana Ehsan Pendidikan’.

"We first started in Selangor with 167 recipients and today there are 50 students who have received the aid," he added.
