Sarawak Govt To Build Sarawak Complex In Kuala Lumpur Next Year - Abang Johari 

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 25 (Bernama) -- A Sarawak complex will be built in Kuala Lumpur next year to facilitate accommodation and meetings for students from the Land of the Hornbills (Sarawak), said Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Abang Johari said the complex will be built equipped with facilities such as a hostel and other infrastructure to accommodate students from Sarawak across the Peninsula to meet, hold discussions, and so on.

"God willing, the land is ready. We just need to develop it, and eventually, in the heart of the capital city, a building that will stand firm and splendid will be the Sarawak Complex.

"Hopefully, it will provide benefit and convenience to the people of Sarawak," he said in his address at the Dinner Ceremony in conjunction with the Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak 2025 program held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) here today.

Also present were the Governor of Sarawak Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi cum Chairman of Lan Berambeh this year, Sarawak elected representatives and approximately 6,000 people of Sarawak descent.

In other developments, Abang Johari also announced that the state government is planning to provide free tertiary education for students studying at institutions of higher learning in Sarawak.

"This initiative will ease the burden on families, especially those working as fishermen, farmers, and the B40 group, because now their children have the opportunity to pursue tertiary education," he said.
