KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 (Bernama) -- The Prime Minister’s wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today inspected the final preparations for the Spouse Programme, to be held tomorrow at Carcosa Seri Negara, in conjunction with the ongoing 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits.
Dr Wan Azizah was accompanied by Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.
She spent about an hour and a half observing the progress of preparations for the programme held in honour of the spouses of heads of state and government attending the summits.
Carcosa Seri Negara, built in 1896 by Sir Frank Swettenham, the first British Resident-General of the Federated Malay States, served as his official residence from 1904.
The historic mansion also witnessed the signing of the Federation of Malaya Agreement in 1957.
The 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits are being held from today until Oct 28.
