SEPANG, Oct 26 (Bernama) -- Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi departed for home today after attending the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur.
Japan’s first female prime minister left at 9.50 pm following a red carpet send-off, which included a guard of honour mounted by the First Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories), Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa was present to bid farewell to Takaichi and her delegation.
This was Takaichi's maiden visit to Kuala Lumpur since being elected as Japan's first female prime minister on Oct 21.
Malaysia, as ASEAN Chair 2025, is currently hosting over 30 world leaders, including those from the ASEAN region, the United States, China, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, to deepen engagement and cooperation while addressing regional and global issues of mutual concern.
Leaders from world bodies such as the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) are also attending the high-profile regional meetings.
