KULAI, 27 Oct (Bernama) -- The Johor government plans to incorporate anti-bullying elements into the Johor Student Character Module (KrMJ) as part of efforts to strengthen the personality and discipline of students in the state.
State Education and Information Committee chairman Aznan Tamin said the state government will continue KrMJ even though the Ministry of Education (MOE) intends to introduce character education as a national subject.
"We are modifying and refining the KrMJ module to make it more sustainable. Among the modules that will be included are anti-bullying modules, as well as aspects of emotional management and moral values so that students are not only academically excellent but also have good character," he said.
He said this to reporters after officiating the Digital Literacy Education Yayasan JCorp - Building a Future-Ready Generation at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sayong Pinang here today.
The KrMJ module, introduced in 2017, is an initiative of the Johor Education Department (JPNJ) that serves as a guide for implementing activities based on 10 core characters, including patriotism, leadership, self-esteem, technology and volunteerism.
Aznan said Johor has an advantage because the implementation of KrMJ is also supported by state religious schools, which play a significant role in strengthening student discipline and character development.
"The KrMJ combination under JPNJ and state religious schools has greatly helped us reduce misconduct and shape students with good morals," he said.
Commenting on the progress of Sekolah Rintis Bangsa Johor (SRBJ), Aznan said the state government is still maintaining the existing four pilot schools to evaluate the effectiveness of the initiative before expanding it to other schools.he 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results, the first group of SRBJ students," he said.
When asked about the Johor Budget 2026, he said the education sector remains the state government's main focus, with several important announcements expected to be made by Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi on Nov 13.
Earlier, Aznan handed over 24 laptop to students of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sayong Pinang, thanks to a contribution from Yayasan Jcorp in collaboration with Affin Bank. This involved a total allocation of approximately RM143,000, including 20 units each for SK Sikijang and SK Belokok.
