BUDI95: No Legal Violations Found In RON95 Petrol Quantity Claims

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 1 (Bernama) -- No legal violations have been found regarding claims that consumers received less than the correct quantity of RON95 petrol following the launch of the targeted BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) subsidy, the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) said.

KPDN director-general for enforcement Datuk Azman Adam said the ministry has taken seriously social media posts alleging consumers received insufficient or lower-quality RON95 petrol.

He noted that Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali had ordered an immediate investigation to ensure the issue is examined transparently and consumers’ rights are protected.

“To date, KPDN has received six complaints about underfilled RON95 petrol, while no official complaints have been lodged regarding poor quality,” Azman said in a statement today.

Enforcement officers have conducted inspections, reviewed sales records and checked petrol pumps, confirming that BUDI95 does not affect the quantity or quality of petrol sold. Continuous inspections will be carried out, including random sampling and accuracy tests.

Azman warned that companies found guilty under the Trade Descriptions Act 2011 (Act 730) could face fines of up to RM250,000, or RM500,000 for repeat offences, while individuals could be fined up to RM100,000, jailed up to three years, or both.
