Flood Situation In Kedah Improves, Perak Unchanged

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 (Bernama) -- The number of flood victims in Kedah has decreased as of tonight, while the situation in Perak remains unchanged with the same number of evacuees.  

In KEDAH, the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) reported that the number of victims had dropped to 264 people from 61 families as of 8 pm, compared with 329 victims from 81 families this morning.  

All victims from the Pendang district are still sheltering at two temporary relief centres (PPS), namely the Tanah Merah Sports Complex Hall and Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tunku Intan Shafinaz.

In PERAK, the number of flood victims housed at the PPS of Sekolah Agama Rakyat Padang Serai, Manjung, remains at 124 people from 33 families, according to the state JPBN Secretariat.  

Meanwhile, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) said in a statement that the water level of Sungai Kinta in the Kinta district was at the alert level, recording 248.02 metres, exceeding the normal level of 243.50 metres.
