People Of Pahang Pray For PM Anwar’s Speedy Recovery

02/11/2025 02:16 PM

KUANTAN, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- The people of Pahang have extended their heartfelt prayers for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s speedy recovery following news that he is suffering from back pain which has restricted his movement.

Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) Students’ Representative Council president Muhammad Haykal Halid said the university community is deeply concerned about the Prime Minister’s health and has prayed for his full recovery so he can resume his duties.

“We understand that the Prime Minister had to cancel his working visit to Pahang, including to UMPSA, on the advice of his medical team. We hope he recovers soon and can resume his duties,” he told Bernama.

Another UMPSA student Muhammad Hariez Al Khawarizmi Hanapi, 20, said he prayed for the Prime Minister to get well soon and hopes to meet him one day.

“I was hoping to take a selfie with PMX (Anwar) today, but he couldn’t come due to health reasons. What matters most is that we pray for the Prime Minister to recover and stay fit,” he said.

Suriati Azami, 37, a staff member at the MADANI Community Centre booth, expressed hope that the Prime Minister would make another working visit to Pahang once he fully recovers.

“I really want to meet him, but more importantly, we all pray for his health. Insya-Allah, if there are future programmes in Pahang, the prime minister can attend and meet the people here,” she said.

Mechanic Mohd Zahri Sukor, 51, said the Prime Minister has had a very busy schedule lately and hopes he gets enough rest before returning to his duties.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said earlier today that Anwar had to cancel a scheduled working visit to Pahang at the last minute on the advice of his medical team after suffering from back pain that has limited his movement.

The PMO said the Prime Minister expressed his sincere apologies, especially to the people of Pahang who had been preparing to welcome him.

Anwar was slated to officiate the closing ceremony of the 2025 Hawkers and Small Traders Carnival in Temerloh and attend the Temu Anwar@UMPSA programme at the UMPSA Sports Complex, Gambang Campus.

He was also scheduled to attend an engagement session with Kuantan industry leaders at the Department of Manpower’s Advanced Technology Training Centre (ADTEC) in Kuantan.
