KUALA NERUS, Nov 2 (Bernama) — The Sultanah of Terengganu, Sultanah Nur Zahirah, has called on all parties to embody the spirit of ‘Khairul Ummah’ (the best people raised for the good of mankind) by striving to be the best community, not only through devotion to faith but also through leadership in knowledge, social justice and humanity.
Her Royal Highness, who is also the Chancellor of Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), said that graduates must harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI) not merely for technological advancement, but for the greater good of humanity, using it as a tool to elevate moral and social values.
“As part of ‘Khairul Ummah’, UniSZA graduates must uphold the integration of ‘naqli’ (revealed knowledge) and ‘aqli’ (human reason, intellect and rational knowledge) to ensure that technological progress remains rooted in faith, ethics and wisdom.
“The world today witnesses some living in technological abundance while others remain trapped in poverty and conflict. The concept of ‘Khairul Ummah’ demands that UniSZA graduates shoulder the responsibility of upholding global justice.
“The degree received today is not an end, but a beginning. Knowledge is a trust, and the deeds that follow will determine whether you truly belong among ‘Khairul Ummah’,” Sultanah Nur Zahirah said when gracing UniSZA’s Idul Ilmi convocation ceremony at Dewan Al-Muktafi Billah Shah here today.
Her Royal Highness also expressed her hope that UniSZA graduates will become a generation that unites technological intelligence with moral wisdom, promotes justice with courage and builds social progress on the foundation of integrity and civility.
A total of 4,215 Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) graduates will receive their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master’s, Postgraduate Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree and Diploma at the university’s 17th convocation, held from today until Nov 6.
At the same ceremony, national athletics legend Datuk Marina Chin was conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Sports Science.
