According to IJN Holdings Group chief executive officer Prof Datuk Seri Dr Mohamed Ezani Md Taib, the institution’s new classification is a significant milestone that will enhance its capabilities through academic and professional training programmes in the healthcare field, in line with Malaysia’s present and future needs.

“This achievement reflects IJN Holdings’ commitment to integrating world-class clinical practice with academic excellence.

“Through IJNUC, we aim to produce a skilled and empathetic healthcare workforce, who will uphold Malaysia’s reputation as a regional leader in specialised medical care,” he said.

The launch of IJNUC was officiated today by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in a ceremony attended by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, and IJNUC vice-chancellor Prof Emerita Dr Durrishah Idrus.

Formerly known as IJN College, IJNUC houses three key faculties - the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Faculty of Management Sciences, and Faculty of Nursing - and officially gained university college status on May 13.

Among its flagship programmes is the Graduate Certificate in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Sciences (GCCVTS), which has produced over 500 graduates to date, now serving in leading health institutions both locally and abroad.

According to the statement, IJNUC will take a step forward by introducing new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in physiotherapy, pharmacy, psychology, and nursing.

In addition, to further strengthen IJNUC’s role as a major hub for national health education, the institution plans to offer doctoral programmes in cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, paediatrics, anaesthesiology, and several other fields.
