PUTRAJAYA, Nov 12 (Bernama) -- The Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) is conducting a study to formulate a new development strategy for the city up to 2050, announced Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories), Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
She said the study is crucial for drafting the Putrajaya Structure Plan 2050 (RSP50) and the Putrajaya Local Plan (RTP), following the expiry of the Putrajaya Structure Plan 2025.
"The study is currently in its second phase, which involves preparing the RSP50 Scrutiny Report. It includes findings on key issues and challenges, an assessment of the achievements and shortfalls of the 2025 plan, and preliminary proposals for Putrajaya's development strategy up to 2050," she said on her official Facebook page today.
Dr Zaliha said PPj presented 16 strategic findings covering physical, demographic, housing, economic, tourism, infrastructure, environmental, and urban governance aspects during a briefing today.
Among the proposals tabled was the need to create a Special Tourism Investment Zone to boost high-quality tourism investment and diversify Putrajaya's economy.
The proposal also includes developing an integrated data hub at the Putrajaya Urban Observatory to overcome data-sharing limitations between agencies and improve data-driven decision-making capabilities.
Other key recommendations involve strengthening the public transport network and enhancing the management of water resources and solid waste.
To ensure a more comprehensive plan, Dr Zaliha invited all Putrajaya residents to provide feedback through a one-month Public Hearing session for the RSP50, starting Dec 17 at the Putrajaya Corporation Complex.
"Your input is crucial to shaping Putrajaya's new direction. This will ensure our strategy is data-centric, future-oriented and aligned with the aspiration of becoming a 'Visionary Smart City'," she said.
