18/11/2025 06:01 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 (Bernama) -- KL International Hospital Sdn Bhd (KLIH), scheduled to open in the second half of 2026, is being developed as Southeast Asia’s first fully integrated smart healthcare institution under KL Wellness City (KLWC).

In line with this, KLIH today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd to drive KLWC’s smart hospital plans.

KLIH Managing Director Datuk Dr Colin Lee said the partnership was timely as the hospital moves towards a fully digital care environment.

“This collaboration with Huawei Malaysia marks a pivotal step in realising our vision to make KLIH a world-class model for smart healthcare and wellness living.

“By integrating advanced digital technologies, we are setting new standards in patient experience, operational efficiency and data-driven care,” he said in his opening remarks during the MoU signing ceremony held today.

The MoU was signed by Lee and Huawei Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Simon Sun.

Meanwhile, Sun in his speech, said the tech giant looked forward to contributing its capabilities to Malaysia’s healthcare sector.

“Huawei is proud to partner with KLIH as our role in healthcare technology extends beyond product development. Business is not just about creating a package of technologies, but also the technology that transfers services that will bring improvement to the daily lives of society,” he said.

The MoU also covers joint training and knowledge-sharing programmes to strengthen digital healthcare skills across KLWC.

KLIH will provide 624 beds, expandable to 1,000, and will include 25 operating theatres, 76 intensive care unit (ICU) beds and 88 high dependency unit (HDU) beds.

A link bridge will connect the hospital to The Nobel Healthcare Park, which houses medical, wellness, retail and business suites as well as MSC-compliant offices for added convenience and accessibility.

The hospital is expected to support Malaysia’s medical tourism sector and adopt digital systems aligned with international standards.

Under the collaboration, Huawei Malaysia will support information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure, cloud services, artificial intelligence (AI)-powered analytics and smart applications to enhance hospital operations and patient care.
