KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 20 (Bernama) -- A total of 373 passengers were evacuated this morning after a monorail train stalled near Medan Tuanku, close to Maju Junction, due to a power supply disruption.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Mohamad Remi Che Hat said the department received an emergency call via NG999 at 9.39 am, before five firefighters from the Titiwangsa station were dispatched using an FRT-1 engine.
“The team arrived at 9.42 am and found the situation under control, with maintenance staff already in the process of transferring passengers.
“A 58-year-old woman fainted but regained consciousness after receiving initial treatment from Health Ministry medical personnel,” he said.
Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd said in a statement that full monorail service resumed at 11.33 am.
The company said the incident reported at 8.50 am involved Train No. 25, which came to an abrupt stop between Medan Tuanku and Titiwangsa stations.
Passengers were taken to Medan Tuanku Station to continue their journeys, while alternative train services and free shuttle buses were activated, before engineering teams towed the train to the depot for further inspection.
“Rapid Rail apologises for the inconvenience caused and deeply appreciates the patience and cooperation of all commuters,” the company said.
