GENTING HIGHLANDS, Nov 20 (Bernama) -- A new concept of eco-tourism and edu-tourism attraction will anchor Resorts World Genting’s (RWG) tourism offerings for Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) with the unveiling of its upcoming ‘Eufloria’ and ‘BUNGA 2026’.

Expected to open in the first half of next year, both horticulture events to be held here, will serve as a new magnet to the highlands known for its theme parks, and add more attractions to VM2026.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing commended RWG’s initiatives, saying the introduction of Eufloria and BUNGA 2026 festival would broaden domestic access to nature and culture based attractions.

He said the developments are timely as Malaysia prepares to enhance its tourism products ahead of VM2026.

“This is a very good initiative. I would like to say thank you to Resorts World Genting, which has been very proactive.

“We are giving local tourists more reasons to stay in the country as they can come and feel our horticultural beauty, it is not necessary to go to Singapore or Taiwan, far away to feel this flower extravaganza,” he told reporters after witnessing the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between RWG and Tourism Malaysia.

Eufloria which spans 12.5 acres, integrates horticulture, artistry and conservation-driven storytelling, offering an accessible nature-learning experience for local and international visitors.

Its centrepiece is a 3.7-acre greenhouse complex, described as Malaysia’s largest, featuring four thematic glasshouses that provide distinct botanical experiences and is designed to receive up to 8,000 visitors at one time with more than 1,000 plant species showcased on seasonal rotation.

Meanwhile, BUNGA 2026 is RWG’s inaugural floral festival which will spotlight orchids through floral fashion presentations, artisan workshops, thematic gardens and eco-friendly installations.

The festival will also build momentum towards the Asia Pacific Orchid Conference (APOC) 2028, which RWG will host.

RWG Sales, Marketing and Public Relations executive vice president, Spencer Lee in his speech said the MoU marked an important milestone to support VM2026, hence strengthening Malaysia’s tourism ecosystem and showcasing what the nation has to offer.

“Through initiatives like Eufloria and BUNGA 2026, we hope to inspire sustainable travel and accessible learning experiences for all.

“We are excited to showcase our ecotourism and edutourism offerings, providing enriching experiences for visitors from near and far while celebrating Malaysia’s natural and cultural heritage,” he added.

Meanwhile, RWG in a statement said its nursery and farms, which support landscaping and food production for the resort will continue to serve as platforms for community learning and exposure to commercial agriculture.

It said, the company’s existing nature-based programmes, including Genting Nature Adventures and guided interpretive tours, will complement the expanded ecotourism and edutourism offerings.

“Under the MoU, RWG will collaborate with Tourism Malaysia to promote these products as key components of VM2026 by organising familiarisation trips, curated itineraries and promotional activities,” according to the statement.

Eufloria is expected to open in the first half of 2026 from 10 am to 7 pm daily while BUNGA 2026 is scheduled for mid-2026.
