KANGAR, Nov 21 (Bernama) -- The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) generated RM48 million from 2,486 Agro MADANI Sales held nationwide, saving consumers RM14.4 million as of Oct 31.
FAMA chairman Aminuddin Zulkifli highlighted that this sales initiative has benefited 6.6 million households, involving 33,919 entrepreneurs.
"This year, we targeted 3,500 Agro MADANI sales. FAMA is committed to achieving it by year-end, taking advantage of the holiday season when people are more inclined to visit such carnivals," he said at the Perlis Agro MADANI Sales Carnival, Dataran Dato' Sheikh Ahmad, here today.
The four-day carnival, which began yesterday, was officiated by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail. Also present was Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli.
Furthermore, Aminuddin said FAMA is on standby to ensure an adequate supply of agricultural produce and essential food items in preparation for potential flooding during the monsoon season.
"Currently, we are well-positioned through our cooperation with private companies, industry players and government agencies in terms of logistics.
“Our network with contracted partners ensures we can source these supplies. Should local supplies be disrupted, FAMA will make every effort to bring in goods from other regions," he said.
