KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7 (Bernama) -- The flood situation in Perak and Selangor continues to show signs of recovery with the number of victims decreasing, while the situation in Pahang remains unchanged as of this morning.
In PERAK, the number of victims decreased to 995 people from 279 families, compared to 1,021 people (291 families) who were still in nine PPS in three districts last night.
The Perak JPBN Secretariat informed that Hilir Perak continued to record the highest number with 442 victims, followed by Bagan Datuk (335 people) and Manjung (218 people).
Meanwhile, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) reported that two rivers were at danger levels, namely Sungai Bidor in Changkat Jong which recorded a level of 3.86 metres (normal around 2m), and Sungai Slim in Slim River at a level of 25.63 m (normal 23.50m).
In SELANGOR, the number of victims in PPS also decreased this morning to 40 people from 13 families, compared to 114 victims (45 families) last night.
According to the JKM Disaster Information website, only one PPS is still operating in the Kuala Selangor district.
In PAHANG, the number of victims remains at 31 from 12 families since last night.
JKM Disaster Information reported that 24 victims from 11 families were placed at the Balairaya Kampung Ulu Sungai PPS, Raub, while seven families are at the Kuantan Special Vocational Secondary School.
Water level readings in all major rivers monitored by DID in the state are below the danger level.
