KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 10 (Bernama) -- The Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) will review the Cabinet's proposal regarding exemptions from the dress code for front-line services such as healthcare and security facilities.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said today's Cabinet meeting, among other things, proposed that several front-line services, including police stations and other government premises, be exempted from the Chief Secretary to the Government's Circular dated Dec 1, 2020.
"Recently, an issue arose where an individual was reportedly denied entry to file a police report due to a clothing issue, so the Chief Secretary to the Government will review the circular and make some improvements," he said at a press conference in Parliament today.
Fahmi, who is also the spokesperson for the MADANI Government, said further statements and new circulars will be issued in the near future after the review is complete.
"But the Prime Minister's view is that on security issues involving police stations, for those who wish to make a report, there should be no circumstances that prevent them from making a police report," he said.
Yesterday, Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar was reported to have said that a woman was not allowed to enter the premises of a district police headquarters (IPD) on Monday, as had gone viral on social media, because she violated the dress code set at government premises.
The woman in her early 20s came to the police station with her mother in her 50s to file a report because they were involved in a road accident at 5 pm.
However, they were not allowed to enter the police station to lodge a report because the length of the skirts they were wearing was shorter than knee length.
