KUCHING, Dec 10 (Bernama) -- Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg arrived in Nanjing, China, today to begin an official visit that will see him witness the signing of a framework agreement and memorandum of understanding (MoU) involving Petroleum Sarawak Bhd (PETROS).

The Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) said Abang Johari will witness the signing ceremony between PETROS and China Jiangsu International Economic and Technical Cooperation Group Ltd (CJI) at the latter’s headquarters in Nanjing. He will also conduct a field visit to the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP).

The working visit will commence on Thursday with an engagement session with the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government at Xikang Guesthouse.

“The third day of the visit will focus on high-impact sessions at SIP, one of China’s most successful industrial, technological and innovation hubs,” UKAS said in a social media post today.

Abang Johari is also scheduled to attend a development briefing at the SIP exhibition hall and one-stop centre, followed by an official meeting with the park’s administrative committee and site visits to several leading companies operating at the site.

“SIP, renowned for its ecosystem of smart manufacturing, automation and advanced technology research, serves as a key reference for Sarawak’s efforts to develop a technology-driven and green energy–based economic model in line with the state’s development aspirations,” UKAS said.

The Premier is expected to return on Saturday after completing his official programme in Nanjing and Suzhou. Accompanying him are PETROS chairman Tan Sri Hamid Bugo and Deputy Minister for Sarawak Utilities (Sarawak Energy Bhd and PETROS) Datuk Ibrahim Baki.
