Perak Announces RM500 Incentive For Media Practitioners

IPOH, Dec 22 (Bernama) -- Media practitioners in Perak will receive a one-off incentive of RM500 as a token of appreciation for their sacrifices in disseminating the state government’s initiatives and policies to the people.

Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the media is not an entity outside the system; rather, it is part of the ecosystem that helps strengthen governance to become more mature and effective.

“Many state government initiatives touch on the pulse of people’s daily lives. If they are not conveyed in clear language and in a way that resonates with the realities of society, all the efforts poured in may not be understood or fully appreciated.

“Our journalists need to be appreciated — not much, just what we are able to give as a token of appreciation,” he said in his speech at the Perak Sejahtera Media Night 2025 here tonight.

He said the media has played a significant role in the state government’s journey to realise the Perak Sejahtera 2030 agenda.

“Every day, stories of the successes of this plan appear in newspaper headlines or are broadcast on television channels. All of these provide motivation for us to jointly create more successes.

“The fact is, many of the things we do would not reach the people without the hard work of journalists, photographers, editors, portal writers, broadcasters and the entire media ecosystem who work day and night, sometimes without rest, under tremendous time pressure. Some even have to endure disasters for days on end,” he said.

At the ceremony, the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) won eight awards.
