GUA MUSANG, Dec 29 (Bernama) -- The South Kelantan Development Authority (KESEDAR) is sending five Technical and Vocational Education and Training programme (TVET@KESEDAR) participants to Chengdu, China, to undergo training in January.
Its general manager, Wan Muhd Rahimi Wan Salleh said the participants will attend a three-month Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machining Operations course before returning home to work at Tianma Precision Sdn Bhd in Tanjung Langsat, Pasir Gudang, Johor.
He said they are among the participants selected to undergo on-the-job training (OJT) in China as a continuation of their training in Shah Alam, Selangor, after successfully passing their interview with the company on Nov 4.
“This year’s CNC course under TVET@KESEDAR, with Sei Ryu Sha College as our strategic partner, began on Sept 21 and ended on Nov 20, involving 30 participants from KESEDAR.
“During the course, participants attended interviews and were placed for employment at Hicom Diecasting and Industry Quality Management (IQM) in Shah Alam, before being called for interviews for OJT in Chengdu, China. They will receive salaries and the appropriate allowances during the training period,” he told reporters after an engagement event celebrating TVET@KESEDAR participants’ achievements at KESEDAR headquarters here today.
He said since TVET@KESEDAR began in 2022, 186 participants have completed training and are now employed in various areas such as plumbing, gas pipe installation, 3G welding, cake and pastry, tailoring, scaffolding, fibre-optics, as well as air-conditioning and mechanical ventilation.
One of the participants, Ahmad Solihin Che Maari, 20, said the skills gained through the TVET programme will be fully utilised to help ease his parents’ financial burden and improve his family’s standard of living.
“Before joining this course, I worked as a mechanic in Kampung Pasir Era, Kuala Krai, with an unstable income.
“Alhamdulillah, with this opportunity, I was able to gain new skills and pursue better career prospects,” he said.
