PPM To Strengthen Youth Development Through Multiple Programmes In 2026

31/12/2025 06:02 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 31 (Bernama) -- The Scouts Association of Malaysia (PPM) will continue to strengthen youth development and leadership through the organisation of large-scale programmes at both national and international levels, including the 2026 Malaysia Jamboree in Penang.

National Chief Scout Maj Gen Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Zin Bidin said the Malaysia Jamboree was organised to mark its 60th anniversary since it was first held in 1966, symbolising the continuity and evolution of the scout movement in the country.

“This event will focus on leadership development, mastery of life skills, fostering the spirit of patriotism and building social networks among youth from across the country,” he said when appearing as a guest on Bernama TV’s Apa Khabar Malaysia programme today.

He added that the Terengganu International Jamboree (TIJ 100), scheduled to be held from Dec 17 to 21, 2026, is expected to bring together participants from various countries, with an emphasis on global leadership, cultural exchange and strengthening mutual understanding among youth.

Dr Mohd Zin said annual activities such as JOTA-JOTI (Jamboree on the Air–Jamboree on the Internet) and the Malaysian Scout Day celebration would continue, focusing on technological developments, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and the country’s human capital development agenda.

In addition, he said the Sahabat Pengakap initiative would continue to be strengthened as a strategic collaboration platform, involving alumni, industry partners, corporate bodies and the public, to support the development of programmes, funding and networks for the scout movement.

“Through this comprehensive plan, Malaysian Scouts are determined to continue producing a young generation of leaders with integrity who can make meaningful contributions to society, the country and the global community,” he said.
