Rakan Muda To Facilitate Establishment Of Mosque Youth Committees - KBS

NAKHON RATCHASIMA, Jan 26 (Bernama) -- The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) will utilise the Rakan Muda platform as the primary mechanism to establish a special committee for youths, providing them with space to plan and implement community and religious programmes.

Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari said the approach would be implemented through strategic collaboration between KBS and relevant parties to ensure the programmes were inclusive and had a lasting impact.

“We will hold discussions with relevant agencies, particularly under the Rakan Muda platform, which comprises 10 lifestyle components, including Rakan Muda Gaya Hidup Prihatin.

“The mosque also serves as a platform for us to unearth new talents, including in sports. We can hold programmes at these locations to enliven the mosques, as they are not only places of worship but also spaces for young people to gather and share positive ideas,” he told Bernama.

He said this at the Malaysian contingent’s ASEAN Para Games (APG) Thailand 2025 performance summary press conference here today.

On the initial implementation of the initiative, Dr Mohammed Taufiq said it was still at the discussion stage, but the Rakan Muda network, which covers every district and parliamentary constituency, would facilitate implementation at the grassroots level.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim proposed that every mosque establish a dedicated youth committee to provide space for youth to plan and implement community and religious programmes.

He said active youth participation was crucial to ensure mosques continued to function as centres for ummah development and remained vibrant institutions.
