27/01/2026 11:29 PM

GENTING HIGHLANDS, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- Chinese Muslim restaurant chain Mohd Chan received the ASEAN Records certificate of recognition as the ‘First and Largest Chinese Muslim Direct-Owned Chinese Restaurant Chain’ in conjunction with the Majlis Santuni Kasih Diraja with orphans and asnaf (tithe recipients) and the official opening of its Genting Permai outlet here today.

The recognition acknowledges Mohd Chan’s journey as a homegrown restaurant chain operating since 2007, guided by integrity, sustainability, and the principles of Halalan Toyyiban (permissible, safe and wholesome).

The ceremony, officiated by the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, also saw the launch of the Mohd Chan charity van, symbolising the company’s ongoing commitment to charitable work and community service, as well as the presentation of contributions to those in need.

Mohd Chan Signature Sdn Bhd managing director Datuk Mustafa Chan said the company adheres to the principle that business success should go hand in hand with efforts to support the community, particularly orphans and the asnaf.

“Mohd Chan remains committed to upholding the values of sincerity, integrity and compassion as the foundation of every step we take, not only in providing quality halal food but also in our charitable initiatives and human capital development,” he said in his speech at the event.

Speaking to the media after the event, Mustafa said the charity programme was in line with the company’s approach of consistently prioritising charitable activities through the Mohd Chan Welfare Organisation.

Commenting on the ASEAN Records certificate of recognition, he said the achievement also carried a greater responsibility to continue expanding the business sustainably.

“It signifies an even greater responsibility for us to remain focused and consistent in growing the business, while continuing to promote cultural exchange through food, particularly Chinese Muslim cuisine,” he said.

Mohd Chan currently operates 28 outlets across Peninsular Malaysia, all of which are owned directly and not franchised.

Also present at the opening ceremony were Mohd Chan, executive director Datuk Nik Chan, marketing director Datin Aishah Sim, ASEAN Records managing director Gilian Ooi, and executive director Eldrick Koh.
