KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 30 (Bernama) -- A moderate earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale struck Mindanao, the Philippines, at 8.49 am today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said in a statement that the earthquake was centred at coordinates 6.6 degrees north and 123.9 degrees east, at a depth of 20 kilometres.
MetMalaysia said the epicentre was located about 82 km southwest of Cotabato City, the Philippines.
However, MetMalaysia said there was no tsunami threat to Malaysia following the incident.
