Largest People's Residency Programme To Be Built In Kuala Lumpur -- Nga

PUTRAJAYA, March 3 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) plans to develop the country’s largest People’s Residency Programme (PRR) project in Seri Permaisuri, Kuala Lumpur, under the 13th Malaysia Plan.

Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said discussions had been held with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim regarding the project, which will comprise 1,319 housing units targeted for the young generation.

“The housing units will be developed as transit homes for students and young people,” he told reporters after attending the Ihya Ramadan – Islah MADANI: Memurni Jiwa Membangun Ummah programme with the ministry’s staff today.

The programme was also attended by the prime minister.

Nga said the proposed PRR development would be designed as an attractive and well-planned housing area, with further details to be announced during the upcoming ground-breaking ceremony.

The PRR is a federal government public housing initiative aimed at assisting squatters and the B40 income group in obtaining better and more comfortable housing at affordable sale prices or low rental rates.

At the event, the Prime Minister and KPKT staff also attended a religious lecture titled “Ramadan: Building Unity and Love” delivered by Muhd Haris Mohd Ismail, better known as PU Haris, and then performed the Zuhur prayer in congregation.

Also present were Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Public Service director-general Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz and Treasury secretary-general Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican.
