Property Sector Records RM240 Bln In 2025, Highest In Over A Decade - Nga

PUTRAJAYA, March 3 (Bernama) -- The national property sector recorded RM240 billion in transactions in 2025, the highest in more than a decade, said Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.

He said the strong performance shows the sector has not only recovered but is now a key driver of economic growth.

“I describe it as a pillar of the national economy because property development is linked to 200 industries, including manufacturing, construction, banking and legal services. The RM240 billion transaction value is a significant and encouraging figure,” he said.

Nga said this when met by reporters at the Ihya Ramadan - Islah MADANI: Memurni Jiwa Membangun Ummah programme organised by the ministry (KPKT), which was attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, here today.

He said KPKT, through the National Housing Department, will continue to play a proactive role to ensure sustained growth in the sector.

“We hope the National Housing reforms we are planning to implement will proceed smoothly. I expect this year to be even more encouraging if all parties cooperate,” he said.

On the conflict in the Middle East, Nga said the ministry remains cautious and will monitor developments to prevent any impact on the housing and construction sectors, particularly in terms of transportation costs.

Meanwhile, he said he had informed the Prime Minister of a proposal to establish a single national housing agency.

“We will streamline the system to create a single national housing window so that bureaucratic overlaps can be reduced and administrative as well as approval processes expedited,” he said.
