MELAKA, March 3 (Bernama) -- The Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council (MPHTJ) is rolling out 10 special programmes throughout the month of Ramadan, with a total allocation of around RM155,000.
Its president Datuk Sapiah Haron said the programmes include the distribution of moreh meals to uniformed personnel, as well as Aidilfitri aid such as new clothing for orphans and underprivileged families, particularly within the council’s administrative area.
“Every year, MPHTJ sets aside funds for corporate social responsibility programmes during Ramadan with various assistance initiatives, while giving back to those in need,” she told reporters at the Ramadan Berkat programme here today.
Sapiah said 2,000 packets of porridge were distributed today to road users in front of the MPHTJ building.
In another development, she said a hotel that was previously ordered to close in January following allegations that it was gay-friendly has been allowed to resume operations after complying with conditions set by MPHTJ.
“Previously, we had suspended the hotel’s operating licence over the issue, but it has since complied with the required conditions, including removing advertisements promoting immoral activities.
“At the same time, monitoring will continue to ensure the issue does not recur and that the hotel operates in accordance with the stipulated terms and regulations,” she added.
