06/03/2026 05:15 PM

MELAKA, March 6 (Bernama) -- The Scouts Association of Malaysia (PPM) today held a awards and medals presentation ceremony as a symbolic gesture to strengthen bilateral ties between Malaysia and regional authorities in Indonesia, particularly in Jambi province.

Chief Scout of Malaysia Maj Gen Datuk Prof Dr Mohd Zin Bidin said the conferment serves as an important bridge in enhancing cooperation and the existing relationship between Malaysian scouts and the authorities in Jambi.

“It also serves as a platform to promote the spirit of the ‘brotherhood of scouting’ that transcends borders for regional progress and well-being.

“The conferment represents PPM’s highest appreciation for the services, support and extraordinary commitment that have been rendered,” he said in a statement here today.

The ceremony was officiated by Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Rustam, who is also PPM’s patron.

Mohd Zin said the strong relationship established is highly significant, particularly in expanding community networks, fostering regional understanding and strengthening cross-border scouting brotherhood for peace, progress and shared prosperity.

“PPM sees vast potential to implement more youth development programmes, cultural exchanges, leadership training and community service collaborations that can bring positive impact to Scouts in both countries,” he said.

Jambi Governor Dr Al Haris was conferred the Bintang Semangat Rimba Emas while Jambi Mayor Dr H Maulana M.K.M received the Bintang Semangat Rimba Perak.

Bintang Semangat Rimba Emas is the third-highest award in the PPM service award hierarchy, focusing on leadership and was first introduced in 1958, while Bintang Semangat Rimba Perak is the fourth-highest award in the hierarchy and was first introduced in 1964.
