31/03/2026 09:24 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 (Bernama) – The Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP) and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) have entered into a strategic partnership with Tourism Malaysia to strengthen the arts and cultural landscape in the capital, while also supporting the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign.

In a joint statement today, DFP and MPO said the memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the collaboration was signed by DFP/MPO chief executive officer Siti Azlina Abd Latif and Tourism Malaysia director-general Mohd Amirul Rizal Abdul Rahim on March 17 here.

The event was also witnessed by the DFP/MPO chairman Norafizal Mat Saad, and Tourism Malaysia senior director and head of the VM2026 Secretariat, Mohd Akbal Setia.

In the same statement, Siti Azlina said that the strategic collaboration marks another significant achievement for DFP, a major concert hall in the capital and for the MPO, a leading orchestra in the Southeast Asian region.

"We are very proud of the collaboration with Tourism Malaysia. Collaborations like these can achieve greater success compared to working separately. Together, we complement each other and reach a higher level in our efforts to support VM2026," she said.

Siti Azlina hopes that the collaboration can position the DFP not only as premier concert destination but also as part of a broader Malaysian cultural tourism journey.

According to the statement, the DFP and MPO have been at the forefront of the creative industry, representing the highest level of artistic and cultural performances for 28 years, consistently presenting high-quality and artistic programmes, and providing a platform for the appreciation of arts and culture for both local and international artists.

"Every concert season, the DFP and MPO showcase music encompassing various genres such as classical, pop, jazz, movie soundtracks, anime, as well as traditional and ethnic.

"These brands present captivating premium concert experiences that inspire, educate, and touch the hearts of audiences across generations and borders. This cultural attraction complements the VM2026 campaign," according to the statement.

As a strategic partner, the statement said the DFP and MPO brands will be expanded globally through integration on digital and physical platforms of Tourism Malaysia at overseas information centres.

"This collaboration will also witness the creation of attractive packages for Malaysians and international tourists, including exciting concert ticket discounts and tours of the concert hall," he also said, adding that it also opens up opportunities for the DFP and MPO to explore the production of culturally themed content specifically created for the Tourism Malaysia campaign.
