IPOH, April 3 (Bernama) -- The Perak MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR) 2026 kicked off today at Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah here in Meru Raya, featuring a vibrant line-up of activities expected to draw 100,000 visitors over its three-day run.
According to the tentative programme as of April 1, the event is set to begin at 9 am with “Gema Generasi MADANI KPM” a lively performance showcasing the artistic and cultural talents of students from schools under the Ministry of Education (MOE), particularly those from Sekolah Seni Malaysia.
In line with the theme “Sustainable Cities, Quality Housing, Harmonious Communities”, the Town and Country Planning Department (PLANMalaysia) will hold a talk session at noon titled “Negeri Perak: Hulu ke Hilir, Ape yang Smart nye?”
The session offers visitors a hands-on experience with smart city technology, featuring interactive demonstrations such as the Smart Pole Mini and real-time CCTV recording applications.
The practical demonstrations aim to provide visitors and key agencies with a clear understanding of the potential of smart city technology.
Visitors will also have the chance to win a variety of attractive prizes during the Lucky Draw session by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government and Yakin MADANI!, starting at 2.30 pm.
The Halal Development Corporation (HDC) is scheduled to give a talk for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) at 4.30 pm, offering guidance on halal certification applications and strategies to access both domestic and international markets.
The evening session will bring a spiritual touch to the programme, with selawat (chants of praise for Prophet Muhammad) and nasyid performances conveying messages of repentance, love, and devotion to Allah, beginning at 7 pm.
The Perak PMR 2026 is being held on a large scale and marks the first tour series of the year, running from 9 am to 10 pm on Friday and Saturday, and concluding at 6 pm on Sunday.
Among the other highlights of the programme are the Rahmah Sales, offering discounts of 10 to 30 per cent, a career carnival, a free motorcycle helmet exchange, a local food festival, as well as complimentary motorcycle engine oil changes and haircuts.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to officiate the programme tomorrow.
