PUTRAJAYA, April 4 (Bernama) -- The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) stressed that it will not compromise with any party found violating halal certification conditions, particularly in cases involving najis mughallazah or severe impurities such as contamination or contact with pigs.
Responding to the revocation of Malaysian Halal Certification (SPHM) for two food manufacturers in Melaka, JAKIM director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee said the action was taken by the Melaka Islamic Religious Department (JAIM) after brushes made from pig hair were discovered at the premises.
He said the companies involved had been instructed to immediately cease using the Malaysian halal logo, recall all affected products from the market, and implement comprehensive corrective measures, including processes in accordance with Islamic law and the established guidelines.
JAKIM fully respects the role of state religious authorities, which are responsible for overseeing halal certification and enforcing compliance among SPHM holders at the state level Sirajuddin said in a statement here today.
He added that no privilege would be granted to any party found violating the conditions or failing to meet the standards of Malaysian Halal Certification.
“Any non-compliance, particularly involving impurities such as pig-related substances,is a serious violation that that cannot be taken lightly and requires immediate strict action,” he said.
Sirajuddin said JAKIM would continue to strengthen strategic cooperation with all relevant authorities to enhance monitoring and enforcement.
He said concerted action would continue to be taken to uphold the integrity of Malaysia’s Halal Certification, ensure the public’s access to halal food and address any non-compliance firmly and immediately.
