Gaza Aid Mission With 30 Containers To Benefit 100,000 Palestinians - Amirudin

06/04/2026 06:54 PM

SEPANG, April 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s humanitarian aid mission to Gaza, carried out through the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 delegation, will deliver 30 containers of critical supplies expected to directly benefit about 100,000 Palestinians.

Selangor Menteri Besar and mission chief Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the mission involves more than 300 tonnes of essential goods packed into 30 containers, contributed by the public, companies, as well as state and federal governments.

“We estimate that about 100,000 people will benefit if we succeed in carrying out this mission, and it will certainly open doors wider for further aid that has previously been constrained,” he said at a press conference after launching the mission here today.

If successfully executed, the mission would not only ease the burden of Gaza residents affected by prolonged conflict but also expand access to humanitarian aid that has long been restricted, he added.

He said the participation of nearly 3,000 volunteers from almost 100 countries reflects global solidarity with the prolonged humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

He stressed that the mission was not merely symbolic but a large-scale humanitarian movement aimed at delivering direct assistance to those in need.

Amirudin also said two key components are being planned: the immediate delivery of emergency aid via land routes, and the launch of Global Flotilla 2.0 from Barcelona as part of continued efforts to break humanitarian blockades.

He noted that the federal government is playing an important role through government-to-government (G2G) cooperation with several countries, including European nations willing to facilitate safe and effective execution of the mission.

The Malaysian delegation, he said, will move according to a carefully planned strategic schedule to ensure safety, especially ahead of arrival at the Rafah border crossing in the coming days.

He said organisers have prepared several operational plans and schedules to ensure the delegation’s movement is safe and well-coordinated, taking into account current security conditions.

“The most important thing for us is to ensure all delegates arrive before the departure, especially as we approach the Rafah crossing in the next few days,” he said.

According to him, the number of Malaysian participants in this mission is expected to be higher than last year, reflecting growing public support for humanitarian efforts to assist Palestinians.

“Last year we had 34 Malaysian participants. This time, we have received a large number of applications, and the total will be announced when we begin departure from Barcelona,” he said.

He also called on the public to continue praying for the success of the mission to ensure the aid reaches Palestinians in urgent need.

“May there be continued prayers and support for our heroes who are carrying a message of peace and striving to break the blockade, and ultimately realise our hope of seeing Gaza and Palestine free and accessible as significant and sacred places for Muslims now and in the future,” he said.
