KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 (Bernama) -- The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) is offering industrial training opportunities for students as part of its efforts to empower young talent in the agro-food sector.

The programme is open to Diploma and Degree students across various key disciplines, including economics, marketing, business management, agribusiness and plantation management.

Students from technical and professional backgrounds such as engineering, statistics and law, as well as cross-disciplinary fields including human resource management, multimedia, finance and information technology, are also encouraged to apply.

FAMA chairman Aminuddin Zulkipli, in a statement, said that industrial training allowances will be provided based on approved allocations and subject to the agency’s financial position.

He said trainees will gain comprehensive exposure to daily operations across the entire agro-food industry value chain.

“Among the highlights is hands-on experience at the FAMA Rengit Food Processing Centre (PMMFR), where students can understand the full process of product development—from farm-level production to marketing at outlets such as Agrobazaar,” he said.

Aminuddin added that students will also be exposed to logistics and supply chain management through direct involvement in field activities.

This includes collecting agricultural produce such as Harumanis mangoes in Perlis and watermelons in Terengganu, ensuring product quality is maintained from source to consumer.

Participants will also have the opportunity to be involved in large-scale events such as the MADANI Agro Sales (JAM) and the Malaysian Agriculture, Horticulture and Agro-Tourism Exhibition (MAHA), gaining valuable exposure to event management, logistics coordination and customer engagement.

“FAMA places strong emphasis on compliance with industry standards to enhance students’ employability. This includes exposure to certification processes such as the Halal certification by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department, the Safe Food Industry Responsibility (MeSTI) certification, as well as other internationally recognised quality standards,” he said.

Interested students can download the official industrial training form via FAMA’s website at www.fama.gov.my/borang. Completed applications must be submitted via email to latihanindustri@fama.gov.my.

For further inquiries, applicants may contact FAMA at 03-6033 2020.
