SMK Batu Laut To Add Digital Classrooms This Year

21/04/2026 04:08 PM

BANTING, April 21 (Bernama) -- Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Batu Laut plans to add three to four digital classrooms this year to strengthen the use of technology in teaching and learning, in line with 21st-century education.

Acting principal Hamimi Hashim said the classrooms will use tools such as smart TVs, smartboards, laptops and internet access to make lessons more interactive and help students better understand concepts.

“This approach improves focus, clarity and interest in learning. It also allows teachers to apply varied teaching methods so students do not become bored,” he said at the 2025 Academic Excellence Awards Ceremony  and the launch of the Digital Classroom here today.

He said the initiative is supported by Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister and Sepang MP Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu, who contributed RM20,000 in 2024 to set up four fully equipped digital classrooms.

“I understand Datuk will contribute another RM20,000 this year. With this, we aim to establish three or four more digital classrooms,” he said.

Kampung Batu Laut is an adopted village of the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) under the Santuni MADANI: One Leader, One Village Programme, and is among the oldest villages in the Kuala Langat district, Selangor.

Hamimi said the event also recognised students’ achievements in the 2025 SPM and end-of-semester exams for Forms One to Four.

Although SPM 2025 results declined slightly, he said the school will continue improvement efforts, including expanding digital learning.

He added the school aims to produce at least one straight-A student in the 2026 SPM, with stronger prospects in 2027.

“Our goal is not only academic excellence, but also a more engaging and competitive learning environment through technology,” he said.

Meanwhile, Aiman Athirah said the Sepang parliamentary constituency will expand digital classrooms in schools across Sepang and Kuala Langat to improve teaching and learning.

She said cooperation with the Sepang and Kuala Langat District Education Offices ensures assistance is delivered effectively.

The initiative covers both primary and secondary schools and is being implemented in stages from 2024.

She said digital classrooms will help students understand lessons better and support teachers in delivering content more effectively.

She also urged schools to make full use of the facilities and maintain them well to ensure long-term benefits and improved academic performance.
