From Amirul Mohd Sajadi

MAKKAH, April 23 (Bernama) -- Amid the gathering of millions of people and the complexity of pilgrimage movements, the Muhsen application has emerged as a new ‘lifeline’ helping Malaysian haj pilgrims perform their rituals in a calmer and more organised manner.

Through the Muhsen application, haj pilgrims can obtain services from appointed individuals tasked with assisting them.

Head of the Malaysian Haj Delegation Mohd Hisham Harun said Muhsen plays an important role in ensuring the smooth movement of the pilgrims during the haj season.

“Muhsen helps ensure that the movement of our pilgrims from Makkah to Arafah, and subsequently to Muzdalifah and Mina, can be carried out smoothly and in an orderly manner,” he said after the Haj Operations Ta’aruf Ceremony 2026 here on Thursday.

The Muhsen service was introduced through a collaboration between Lembaga Tabung Haji and Holiday Inn Bakkah to strengthen on-the-ground support, particularly during critical phases in Arafah, Muzdalifah and Mina.

According to Mohd Hisham, one Muhsen personnel is assigned to assist about 25 pilgrims, enabling faster and more targeted support.

Their main advantage lies in their ability to communicate in both Malay and Arabic.

“Most of them are Malaysian students in Saudi Arabia, so they can act as a bridge between our pilgrims and the local authorities, especially in terms of communication,” he said.

Their role is not limited to worship matters, but also extends to assisting with daily needs such as access to Raudah, purchasing essentials and providing guidance throughout the pilgrims’ stay in Makkah and Madinah.

“Pilgrims can contact Muhsen directly and obtain important information quickly through the application, which can be downloaded to their mobile phones.

“This service does not incur additional charges as it is included in the haj package, thus providing added value to Malaysian pilgrims,” he said.

He added that given the limited number of haj personnel, the presence of Muhsen helps fill gaps, particularly in communication and immediate on-the-ground assistance.
