E-Tuisyen Rakyat To Become Core Programme At NADI - Fahmi

25/04/2026 06:15 PM

BUKIT MERTAJAM, April 25 (Bernama) — The e-Tuisyen Rakyat programme will be made a core initiative to be implemented widely at all National Information Dissemination Centres (NADI) nationwide this year, said Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

He said the move follows the success of 36 students who attended online tuition at NADI in scoring 7As and above in the recent Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.

“One student present today only attended tuition at NADI without going to any other tuition classes, yet managed to score 7As. More impressively, earlier results had shown that the student had failed several subjects.

“However, in the SPM, after a year of attending online tuition classes at NADI, the student achieved excellent results. This is a very encouraging success,” he said.

He told reporters this at a ceremony to recognise the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s (MCMC) NADI as a Digital Transformation Centre of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), which was attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at NADI Kubang Semang here today.

Also present were Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah and MCMC chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din.

Fahmi said that in 2025, more than 42,000 Form Five students participated in the e-Tuisyen Rakyat programme conducted at nearly 1,100 NADI centres nationwide, and the number is expected to continue rising this year.

He said the programme’s instructors consist of qualified teachers and teaching is fully conducted online, enabling one teacher to teach more students at any given time.

“The government’s efforts over the past two to three years have not only ensured that each state constituency has at least one NADI, but also improved service quality, including Internet speed.

“I have been informed that some NADI centres now achieve internet speeds of up to 2 gigabits per second (Gbps), and this high-speed connectivity can be utilised by local communities not only for education but also to generate economic activities through digital entrepreneurship,” he said.

Fahmi said Malaysia’s 4G network connectivity has now reached 99.7 per cent, reflecting a significant national achievement in expanding digital coverage.

He also said Malaysia aims to retain its seat as an ITU Council Member, with the voting process scheduled to take place this November in Doha.

“This is an important year for Malaysia within the ITU framework as we have announced our intention to defend our seat on the ITU Council. Our efforts are also to showcase our achievements, including NADI, over the years,” he said.
