KANGAR, April 27 (Bernama) -- Consistent remembrance of Allah (zikr) plays a vital role in shaping good character and attaining inner peace, the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail said.
His Royal Highness said zikr, the remembrance of Allah through the heart, tongue and acts of worship, reflects a servant’s devotion and reliance on Allah SWT.
“Those who constantly remember Allah will attain tranquillity and lead a more orderly life. Without zikrullah, a person may lose direction, and even worldly gains will not bring true satisfaction,” he said when officiating the closing of the 11th Perkampungan Sunnah programme at Alwi Mosque here last night.
Also in attendance were the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, and the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.
Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin also reminded Muslims to prioritise authentic forms of zikr taught by Prophet Muhammad SAW, as these represent the best and most complete guidance.
“It is a loss if we give precedence to forms of zikr without authentic basis, while claiming to love the Prophet SAW and his Sunnah (teachings and practices),” he said.
In this regard, various initiatives have been undertaken to promote the practice of zikr, including the publication of guidebooks by the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPS) through the Perlis Mufti Department.
The Perlis Zikr Campaign, launched in 2021, also continues to raise awareness on the importance of zikr in accordance with the Sunnah.
The three-day Perkampungan Sunnah, which began last Friday under the theme “Zikrullah: Reviving the Sunnah, Attaining Its Virtues”, brought together over 40 scholars from within and outside the country, attracting about 4,000 participants through lectures, forums and a special women’s halaqah (Islamic study circle).
