Global Recognition Affirms Air Selangor’s Operational Excellence

06/05/2026 01:48 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 (Bernama) -- The recognition received by Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) at the Global Water Summit 2025 in Paris, France, last year reflects the company’s capability in managing an efficient and high-performing utility system.

Its chief executive officer, Adam Saffian Ghazali said operational efficiency, particularly in reducing non-revenue water (NRW), was a key factor behind the company being named among the world’s leading utilities.

He said NRW was reduced from 33 per cent to 26.76 per cent last year, with a target to further lower it to 25 per cent by 2030.

“When assessing leading utilities, international bodies look at whether a company operates in line with its objectives.

“For us, achieving 99.96 per cent compliance with Ministry of Health standards for water quality is a very high benchmark for the national water industry,” he said during Bernama Radio’s Jendela Fikir programme today.

To meet rising future demand, Adam Saffian said the Sungai Rasau Water Treatment Plant (LRA) Phase One, aimed at increasing Selangor’s water reserve margin, is expected to be completed by the end of this year with a capacity of 700 million litres per day.

This will be followed by a second phase with the same capacity to support growing water needs in the state.

He added that Air Selangor is also strengthening its digitalisation efforts through the Intelligent Command Centre (ICC), enabling faster response to supply disruption complaints.

At the same time, the Semenyih 2 LRA has been equipped with modern systems to help staff monitor and manage operations more efficiently through digital platforms.
