MELAKA, May 8 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) has requested that Rural Community Centers (PKD) be activated alongside National Information Dissemination Centers (NADI) to support entrepreneurship programmes at the rural level.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said that there are currently 190 PKDs nationwide, and his ministry will carry out synchronisation and coordination with KKDW to realise this goal.
He added that this initiative will provide more opportunities for citizens in various locations to benefit from NADI programmes, particularly the entrepreneurship programmes which he believes offers the most significant help.
Fahmi added that NADI has collaborative programmes with TikTok Shop and Shopee to provide education and boost sales, highlighting that some NADI entrepreneurs earn incomes significantly higher than that of a minister.
He said this to reporters after officiating the Telok Mas NADI and the appointment ceremony for the Melaka NADI Advisory Panel at Taman Seri Telok Mas, which was also attended by Deputy Higher Education Minister Adam Adli Abd Halim and Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Tiong.
During the event, six NADI Panel Chairmen were appointed for the state, reflecting the MADANI Government's commitment through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to strengthen NADI’s role as a local community hub.
This initiative aims to bridge the digital, knowledge, and socioeconomic gaps while delivering government programme benefits more effectively.
Additionally, Fahmi mentioned that NADI is moving forward with the "NADI on Wheels" programme, which travels outside of the centers to conduct activities with local communities.
He noted that these activities include digital literacy and Artificial Intelligence (AI) education. He has requested Members of Parliament to assist in finding suitable locations to gather the community so that NADI instructors can provide insights or conduct programmes.
