MOTAC Warns Spa, Wellness And Massage Operators Against Policy Violations

PUTRAJAYA, May 14 (Bernama) -- The Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (MOTAC) has reminded all parties involved in the spa, wellness centre and Malaysian massage industry not to engage in any actions that contravene official policies and implementation requirements governing the sector.

In a statement today, MOTAC said action, including reviewing, revoking or amending licences and gradings, could be taken against any party found to have committed violations or provided false representations that could affect the integrity of policies, professional standards, governance and the industry’s reputation.

“Any such statements or actions may be considered for appropriate action in line with existing administrative powers, guidelines and regulations,” the statement read. 

MOTAC said the implementation of recognition programmes, certification, grading, training and the involvement of any parties in the industry are fully subject to official guidelines.

Among the guidelines currently in force are the Spa Grading Guidelines, Wellness Centre (PKU) Grading Guidelines and Malaysian Massage Course Implementation Guidelines.

“MOTAC remains committed to ensuring the development of the spa, wellness and Malaysian massage industry is carried out professionally, with integrity, transparency and in line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI, which emphasises public well-being, compassion and industry sustainability,” it said.
