ECRL Project In Pahang Reaches 97.3 Pct Completion As Of April

KUANTAN, May 14 (Bernama) -- The East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project in Pahang has reached 97.3 per cent completion as of last April, said Pahang Public Works, Transport and Health Committee chairman Datuk Razali Kassim.

He said the overall progress of the mega project, which is expected to be completed by the end of this year and begin operations in January next year, stood at 93.66 per cent.

“The transport sector in Pahang is showing rapid development in infrastructure construction, among others through the implementation of this high-impact ECRL project,” he said.

He said this when winding up the debate on the motion of thanks for the royal address by the Regent of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah at the Pahang State Legislative Assembly sitting at Wisma Sri Pahang here. 

Razali said a committee would be established to identify investment and development projects near areas surrounding the ECRL stations, which would emphasise on the integration of travel modes, particularly the provision of public transport networks that can enhance the mobility of residents.

He said among the public transport facility projects in areas near ECRL stations are the Integrated Terminal at Bentong Station and the Integrated Public Transport Terminal at Paya Besar Station in Kuantan.

Meanwhile, Razali, who is also the Muadzam Shah state assemblyman said the Pahang Public Works Department (JKR) had received allocations amounting to RM298.8 million as of May 1, among others for road repair, bridge and routine maintenance works.

“For state roads, as of May 1, JKR Pahang has received an allocation under the Malaysian Road Records Information System (MARRIS) amounting to RM76.7 million for maintenance works on state and village roads,” he said.

He also expressed his appreciation to the Federal Government for approving 10 projects under the Works Ministry through Rolling Plan 1 of the 13th Malaysia Plan, comprising six physical projects and four preliminary study and land acquisition projects involving costs exceeding RM686 million.

In addition, he said the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development had approved seven physical projects to build and upgrade rural roads and bridges worth RM328.54 million.
