IPOH, May 14 (Bernama) --The state government will not stop any Government-Aided Religious School (SABK) in Perak from holding Teachers’ Day celebrations, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.
He said the celebration provided an opportunity for students and parents to express appreciation to teachers for their contributions and sacrifices in the field of education.
“Usually, the celebration is held in a modest manner, with students presenting flowers, gifts and tokens of appreciation, besides organising special performances as a gesture of gratitude to their teachers.
“In Perak, there are 28 SABKs and all of them may continue holding Teachers’ Day celebrations as usual,” he said after officiating the International Education Research and Innovation Carnival (InERIC) at the Perak Islamic Administration Institute here today.
On May 12, the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) disallowed Teachers’ Day celebrations this year, at the school and district levels for institutions under its supervision, as part of efforts to encourage prudent spending and reduce energy consumption amid the global supply crisis.
On InERIC, Saarani said the programme, now in its fourth edition, serves as a platform bringing together researchers, educators, students, educational institutions and industry players to strengthen the culture of research and innovation in line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI.
He said the programme not only enabled participants to exchange ideas, but also acted as a catalyst for the development of creative and high-impact innovations that could contribute to society.
“Among those involved are Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Thaksin University, Politeknik Negeri Jakarta, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali and many others.
“We hope this programme will provide participants with opportunities to build professional networks, expand strategic collaborations and strengthen the culture of knowledge in the digital education era,” he said.
