KUALA LUMPUR, May 15 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said young people today have moved beyond being mere spectators; they are now active drivers of change in strategic national sectors such as technology, education and entrepreneurship.
Ahmad Zahid, who chairs the Cabinet Committee on Youth Development, described today's youth as the driving force, moving the country forward, amid rapid global change.
"Today's youth are the strength that moves this nation. In a fast-changing world, they continuously step forward with fresh ideas and great enthusiasm to shape Malaysia's future," he said in a Facebook post marking the 2026 National Youth Day celebration.
He added that the younger generation plays a vital role in ensuring the country remains advanced, stable and competitive.
Ahmad Zahid noted that youth today are making significant contributions across various fields, including technology, education, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), the creative economy and volunteerism.
Speaking on the 2026 National Youth Day theme, Menggerak Belia MADANI (Mobilising MADANI Youth), he voiced his hope that young Malaysians will stride forward with confidence, strengthen their unity, and boldly seize opportunities to shape the nation's future, grounded in values, knowledge and a strong sense of identity.
“Keep stepping forward, keep creating and keep driving Malaysia ahead. Happy 2026 National Youth Day,” he said.
