NEW DELHI, May 15 (Bernama) -- Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan today held bilateral meetings with his Russian and Indian counterparts on the sidelines of the second day of the 2026 BRICS Partners’ Foreign Ministers’ Meeting here.
At the meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, both sides discussed Malaysia-Russia bilateral ties and recent developments in the Middle East, including the need for all parties to prioritise dialogue, diplomacy and de-escalation efforts to preserve regional peace and stability.
“Malaysia values its strong relationship with the Russian Federation and remains committed to strengthening cooperation across various sectors for mutual benefit,” Mohamad posted on Facebook.
Meanwhile, during the meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, the two leaders exchanged views on enhancing cooperation within the BRICS framework, Malaysia-India bilateral relations, and regional and international issues.
“The meeting also reflected both countries’ commitment to further strengthening strategic cooperation for mutual benefit,” Mohamad said.
The 2026 BRICS Partners’ Foreign Ministers’ Meeting brought together ministers and representatives from BRICS member states and partner countries to discuss global geopolitical developments, economic cooperation and issues affecting countries of the Global South.
