KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 (Bernama) -- Malaysia continues to be a global reference in Islamic practices, including the management of religious affairs and haj, says Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Zulkifli Hasan.
He said that although Islam is currently facing various challenges and discrimination globally, Malaysia has demonstrated strong Islamic governance, making it a model for many countries.
“The reality is that our country is a global reference for Islamic practices, including the management of religious affairs,” he said.
He said this when officiating the Multaqa Petugas Jemaah dan Agensi 2026, a gathering of officers and agencies involved in handling pilgrims, organised by the Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia (ABIM) here today.
Meanwhile, Zulkifli said today’s increasingly complex and uncertain global challenges require new approaches and ways of thinking to ensure Islamic institutions and movements remain relevant and stay in the lead.
He said all parties must avoid complacency and instead continue to think, innovate and deliver better services to the public, in line with the concept of Itqan, which emphasises quality, professionalism, precision and diligence.
