Bernama Top Management Pays Last Respects To Editor-in-chief's Mother

TANJUNG MALIM, May 20 (Bernama) -- The top management of the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) was present to pay their last respects to Kaliamah Karuppaya, the mother of Bernama editor-in-chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, at her residence in Behrang Hulu, here, today.

In attendance were deputy editor-in-chief (News Services) Mohd Shukri Ishak, acting deputy editor-in-chief (Economic News Services) Harlina Samson, Head of Management Services and Finance Sharifah Zaini Syed Zain, Head of TV Nor Hamzeela Md Hambali and Malay Desk chief sub-editor Elmi-Rizal Elias.

Also present were the senior manager of administration and facility Hasni Farlina Abdul Hasim, senior manager of business development and marketing communications K. Raj Anila and senior sales executive G. Jaya Chitra.

Press Secretary to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Shuhaimi Mohamed, was also present, as well as family members and friends of the deceased.

Mohd Shukri said all Bernama staff were also saddened to hear the news and expressed their condolences to Arul Rajoo and the entire family over the loss of their beloved mother.

“On behalf of the management and the Editorial Department in particular, we’d like to express our deepest condolences to our boss, Mr Arul, who lost his beloved mother last night. May he find strength in the love and support of those around him during this difficult time,” he said.

Kaliamah, 77, breathed her last at home in Behrang Hulu at 8.10 pm yesterday after suffering from kidney failure-related health complications over the past year.
