SEPANG, May 21 (Bernama) -- The Sumud Nusantara Command Centre (SNCC) has confirmed that Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 activist Muhammad Hareez Adzrami, also known as Haroqs, has received threats believed to be linked to a proxy of the Israeli Zionist regime.
In this regard, SNCC director-general Datuk Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby said that a number of security measures have been put in place for Haroqs, 26, and his mother.
“One of our participants, Hareez or Haroqs, was threatened via social media believed to be linked to a proxy of the colonialists.
“We have immediately informed the Government about this matter, as it involves not only his safety there but also the safety of his mother (in Malaysia),” he said at a press conference on the latest developments of the GSF 2.0 mission here today.
He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had assured that the safety of Haroqs and his family members would be safeguarded.
“The Prime Minister assured me that we (the government) would seek assistance from the Turkish authorities in monitoring (Haroqs’ safety), as Turkiye has intelligence capabilities and diplomatic relations,” he said.
Local media portals reported that Haroqs’ family had received threats believed to be linked to parties associated with Mossad.
The matter emerged after an X account known as Mossad Commentary uploaded a photograph and video of the activist in a post that later went viral, prompting reactions from Malaysian social media users.
The post was accompanied by the caption: “This is one of the Global Sumud Flotilla activists. If you know his mother, tell her he’s okay. I’m sure she’s worried about him”.
Earlier, Sani Araby said that all 428 GSF 2.0 humanitarian activists, including 29 Malaysians detained by Israel in international waters, have now been released, with Malaysians expected to return home this Sunday.
