KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Health (MOH) remains agile and proactive in translating the values of ihsan (compassion) MADANI to safeguard the welfare of Malaysian pilgrims despite challenges posed by extreme heat and new policy changes by Saudi Arabia.
In a Facebook post, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said as of May 25, the MOH medical teams in the Holy Land had provided 28,435 outpatient treatments at three of its main clinic complexes.
He said 278 cases are being closely monitored at the Transit Lounges in Makkah and Madinah, while 23 elderly pilgrims were assisted in completing their worship through the Safari Wukuf programme.
“However, behind this steadfast service, our hearts are also tested with sorrowful news. On this occasion, let us recite prayers for the 10 Malaysian pilgrims who have returned to their Creator in the Holy Land,” he said.
Dzulkefly said he was deeply moved after a video conference with the MOH medical personnel stationed in the Holy Land today.
“Seeing the weary faces still smiling as they serve the dhuyufurrahman (guests of Allah), while enduring extreme heat reaching up to 48°C, truly touched my heart.
“They are not merely performing duties; they are fighting on,” he said.
