LABUAN, May 27 (Bernama) -- In conjunction with Aidiladha and the Kaamatan celebration, the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) Labuan Prihatin Squad reached out to several insured persons and beneficiaries through a welfare outreach programme aimed at bringing comfort and support during the festive season.
The visit today saw the squad delivering ‘Kotak Prihatin’ to recipients and their families, reflecting Perkeso’s continued commitment to easing the burden of those facing hardship.
For some recipients, the visit was more than just the handing over of aid - it was a reminder that they were not forgotten during difficult times.
Among them was Kilat Paulus, 47, who sustained serious injuries in a workplace accident on April 27 when his finger was badly injured while cutting wood, leaving him unable to work as usual.
Kilat expressed gratitude for Perkeso’s continued assistance, saying the support had helped ease the pressure on his family as he continues his recovery.
“The assistance may look simple to others, but to us it means a lot … I am thankful to Labuan Perkeso for continuing to care for people like me,” he told Bernama today.
The squad also visited Susan Cadiz Egano, 66, who is receiving a survivor’s pension following the loss of her son, Clemente Egano Jr, on May 12. Overcome with emotion, Susan thanked Perkeso for its concern, saying the visit gave her strength and reassurance that her family was not alone.
Also visited was the family of Sarenah Ag Besar, who died on April 10 this year.
Her children, who are still studying, are receiving a survivor’s pension until the age of 21 to help safeguard their welfare and education.
The Prihatin Squad also visited Agustine Modingin, 39, who suffered heat stroke on April 14 while working on board a vessel and is currently receiving temporary disablement benefits from Perkeso.
Labuan Perkeso manager Sylvester Candy Anak Pai said the initiative reflected the agency’s role not only in providing statutory social security protection, but also in personally reaching out to beneficiaries and their families.
“The visits are intended to provide moral support, encouragement and a sense of togetherness, especially during meaningful celebrations such as Aidiladha and Kaamatan,” he said.
