KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 (Bernama) -- The MADANI Government is committed to ensuring Sabah and Sarawak receive equitable and sustainable development benefits through enhanced educational opportunities, quality healthcare access and comprehensive basic infrastructure development, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today.
In a Facebook post in conjunction with the Kaamatan and Gawai festivals, he said the effort is also aimed at ensuring the people of both states enjoy a more dignified quality of life.
He said Kaamatan and Gawai are thanksgiving celebrations rooted in the traditions and heritage of the communities in Sabah and Sarawak, observed in a spirit of togetherness, consensus and appreciation for the blessings of a bountiful harvest.
“Amid the diversity of customs, languages and cultures that enrich our nation, these celebrations serve as a reminder that Malaysia’s strength lies in its ability to preserve harmony within its plural society, strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and foster a culture of mutual respect,” he said.
Anwar said the celebrations also reflect the importance of togetherness in reinforcing national harmony.
“’Kotobian Tadau Tagazo Do Kaamatan’ and ‘Gayu Guru Gerai Nyamai’ to the people of Sabah and Sarawak. May these celebrations bring prosperity and blessings, while further strengthening the spirit of consensus and togetherness that underpins harmony in our beloved Malaysia,” he added.
